New York Declaration

On September 19, 2016 the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted a set of commitments to enhance the protection of refugees and migrants. These commitments are known as the New York Declaration on Refugees and Migrants.1 The following sets out the main elements of the New York Declaration and why they are important for refugees and those we seek to protect, for UNHCR and the wide array of partners we are working with in this process.

More information about the New York Declaration can be found on the UNHCR website: http://www.unhcr.org/newyorkdeclaration
